I'm looking for the best settings for Orca Slicer and Ender 3 V3 SE (0.4mm and 0.2mm)

Hello everyone

I recently purchased an Ender 3 v3 SE and have tried different slicers. I initially installed Prusa with presets downloaded from github, but a lot of filaments were generated during printing. subsequently I managed to find a compromise with the presets of the new version of orca, modifying the organic supports so that they detached easily from my 25mm pla miniatures. wanting to try to improve the quality of my small prints, I had also tried cura maker, but inexplicably with the stock profiles, the pla detached from the plate during printing, generating artefacts (I had only changed the pla temperature on cura).

I would like to stay on orca at this point, but I have two problems. I should soon change the nozzle to a 0.2mm one. orca doesn’t have presets for this type of nozzle and I’m not sure which parameters to change and with what values. the remaining problems concern any improvements that can be made compared to the stock profile of the printer. Do you have any suggestions?

I know perfectly well that excellent miniatures cannot be produced with an FDM, but I wanted to achieve the best possible result. thanks to those who will help me with valid and reliable settings.

Hi @Sephiroth986 and welcome to the forums.

You may find that cura was under extruding which was causing your prints to not stick to the bed, there should be flow rate adjustments in the slicer.

In regards to printing small figures, you ideally will want a small layer height such as 0.10mm or 0.16mm so that small details are printed as cleanly as possible. If you swap out the nozzle for a 0.2mm then you will need to adjust your line widths, in general swapping out any 0.4* values for 0.2* values should in theory work.

i need to change all these options? can you make me an example pls? tnx

As mentioned in my previous post you will need to swap out all the 4’s for 2’s.

I do not use 0.2mm nozzles so cannot give you definitive values I can only offer a guideline of what to follow. As a general rule a 0.2mm nozzle should use values such as the following…

  • Layer Height – 0.08 mm
  • First Layer Height – 0.12 mm
  • Layer/Extrusion Width – 0.15 – 0.25 mm

i don’t find this on orca: * Layer/Extrusion Width – 0.15 – 0.25 mm
should the options in my screenshot be halved?

The settings you need to edit in Orca are here:
